14 severely neglected dogs rescued in Millsboro

week — a number of animal welfare agencies rescued more than a dozen dogs from a property in millsboro, the animal services investigative supervisor describes the conditions as appalling. 47 abc’s lissette nunez joins live in studio with this story. lissette — what else did you find out? emily. according to court documents — the property owner is 61 year old atwood timmons. although the 14 dogs were taken on wednesday — timmons wasn’t arrested until friday. he faces several charges – 18 of those pertain to animal cruelty. we’re told this investigation all started with a tip — called into animal control. the complaint outlined concerns about neglected dogs — and dogs running loose in the area. and on wednesday — the office of animal welfare responded to the property on the 24-thousand block of deep branch road. these are pictures of some of the animals they rescued. the pictures show the dogs — clearly thin — their ribs visible. we’re told many of the dogs had parasites — and injuries — from trying to escape. delaware animal services turned down an official interview — but in a press release described this as one of the worst neglect cases they have seen a spokesperson from the department of health and social services tells 47 abc when officers entered the property — they not only discovered the 14 emaciated dogs in need of medical attention — but there were also four deceased dogs on the property. the spokesperson from d-h-s-s could not tell us when that initial tip was made to animal control — or how long it took them to send investigators out to the property. we also asked if there was any indication that these dogs were involved in dog fighting — or a puppy mill operation. but she told 47 abc that no additional information is being released at this time. the focus is now on the health and rehabilitation of the surviving dogs. they are now at the brandywine valley s-p-c-a in new castle county. emily? alright, thank you for that report, lissette. we’ll have more on this story — tonight in our news at 10 on our sister station cw 3 delmarva — and right here on 47 abc tonight at 11. police say a 15 year old is in stable condition after being shot in
