Hudson Behavioral Health’s Union House reopens in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. – Hudson Behavioral Health’s Union House is back open in Salisbury, offering housing, treatment, and job training for those who are returning home from addiction treatment facilities.

The house allows for up to 9 people to live, receive daily counseling services, and build upon healthy habits and patterns that they have learned to re-enter life and the workforce.

Hudson’s Community Outreach and marketing head Alex Purnell tells us, having all the treatment happen in one facility can help people stay on track, by creating an environment that rewards staying clean, and offers them more support to stay on a positive routine.
“A lot of the people that come to us, that are battling addiction, don’t have any structure in their life, but by having a routine where they wake up they go to their groups, they go to their meeting, they have meals at a certain time, they work, and they continue to work in recovery, is big for them, it gets them on the right path,” Purnell said.

Purnell tells us it was important to them to provide housing for folks battling addictions, as they believe homelessness can drive addiction, by creating dangerous situations, that addicts turn to drugs to help cope with.

He says Hudson Behavioral Health is working with sponsors in the area to provide more housing once someone’s time is up in the center, as well as partnering with businesses with a priority to hire those in recovery- giving them an easier path back to success and health.
