A man was convicted a year after he was arrested on drug charges as a result of a Wicomico County traffic stop.
The Office of the State's Attorney for Wicomico County says on Tuesday, 43-year-old Richard Lemuel Kelly, of Salisbury, was convicted of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. Authorities report that this was Kelly's fourth conviction for felony narcotics offenses. The charge stems from a 2017 traffic stop that happened in Salisbury.
On July 24, in the area of Eastern Shore Drive and Clemwood Street, investigators found seven small paper folds and one larger bag containing Fentanyl, along with a separate bag of cutting agent, concealed on Kelly's person. Law enforcement says they also recovered digital scales, cell phones and other paraphernalia during the investigation.
Kelly was sentenced to 20 years in the Maryland Division of Corrections.
