BREAKING: Kelvin Sewell has been found guilty on misconduct

the jury has reached a verdict in the case of former pocomoke police chief kelvin sewell charged with misconduct in office and conspiracy. 47 abcs julian sadur joins us live now from outside the worcester county circuit court. julian — what happened? yeah michelle the jury took about an hour to deliberate and came back with a not guilty verdict on the conspiracy charge but a guilty verdict on the misconduct in office. the judge sentencing former chief sewell to three years all suspended.three years supervised probation and an 1000 dollar fine it seems in this case the state was able to prove that in november 21st 2014 – sewell interferedwith a car crash investigation by telling a subordinate officer to file the report as an accident not a hit and run. the state alleging if sewell hadn’t interfered that the officer would have filed the report as a hit and run. they also said sewell did all of this to benefit a friend. the defense however argued that as chief sewell had every right to step in and use his judgement. now his second command lieutenant lynell green is also facing misconduct charges. he’s due in court at the end of the month. the prosecution declined to comment on what the outcome of this case will mean for greens however they did say they were happy with the verdict. now i’ll have much more on this at 10 and 11 but for now let’s send it back to you michelle. thanks julian. that’s 47 abcs julian sadur reporting live in the field tonight now to another case we’ve been following
