WMDT-47 ABC named Large Business of the Year at SACC Annual Award Luncheon

SALISBURY, Md. — WMDT was named Large Business of the Year at the Annual Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Awards Luncheon.

We want to thank our community for believing in us and our coverage because local matters.

At the event, community members and business leaders heard from WMDT General Manager Stephanie Willey, who spoke about what the recognition means to the station.

Willey reflected on a special year for WMDT. Earlier this year, Channel 47 received the Outstanding News Operation award from the Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association.

“We’ve received now two awards that I’m very proud to do that and humbled and honored to accept this award, particularly because those of you that know me, the chamber’s very near and dear to my heart,” Willey said.

She also emphasized the importance of WMDT’s slogan, “Because Local Matters,” and how it guides the station’s work every day.

“Our philosophy is because local matters. That is at the heart of everything we do, and it’s not about me. It’s about them. They make it happen and the other 55 employees that I cannot bring here today, as I would have if I could have, so thank you so much,” Willey said.
