Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce honors businesses and nonprofits at Annual Awards Luncheon
SALISBURY, Md. — The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual awards luncheon today, highlighting local businesses and their impact on the community.
For local businesses, nonprofits and professionals, the luncheon is an opportunity to celebrate the people and organizations that make the Lower Eastern Shore special. Bill Chambers, the chamber’s president and CEO, said the event recognizes the area’s contributions to Maryland.
“We have environmental service recognition, and we’re recognizing some of our tourism partners. So, this is a wonderful day to be a Lower Eastern Shore resident and celebrate the reason why this is the best place to live and work in Maryland,” Chambers said.
The event featured 14 awards, with an additional surprise for Chambers himself. He was named Chamber Executive of the Year, prompting a standing ovation from attendees.
Chambers wasn’t the only honoree to receive a standing ovation. Tony Nichols, a former chamber president, received the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame Award.
“Never did I think I would stand here and get this award,” Nichols said, holding back tears.
Among the businesses recognized was Chesapeake Bath and Home Solutions, which won New Business of the Year.
“We are excited. Just absolutely tickled. I would say tickled is the best word to use,” Price said.
Matt Leimbach, owner of Matt the Carpet Guy, received Wicomico County Tourism’s Business of the Year award in recognition of his business’s impact on the community.
“It’s special just because it’s not just me. I have an awesome group of people. I employ 25 different people, and because of them, I’m able to stand and get this award. And because of them, everything comes together,” Leimbach said.
