President Trump announces $8B in funding for farmers

Washington D.C. — Farmers across the country feeling the strain of high costs this harvest season may soon get some relief from the federal government as President Donald Trump announced Monday that $8 billion in funding would be set aside for one-time payments to farmers this harvest season.

The Harvest Fuel Relief Program will provide proportional support for producers based on a portion of modeled losses for farmers during the 2026 crop year.

U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said the move is another example of Trump putting farmers first.

“This $8 billion dollar investment will help bring certainty to our farmers during this harvest so they can continue to feed our nation,” Rollins said in a press release.

The announcement is another step in several moves the administration has made to lend a hand to farmers in recent months — including an executive order on dyed diesel and a previous payment program earlier this year.

The administration encourages eligible producers to create Login-dot-Gov accounts to prepare for the application period.

The administration said that commodity-specific payment rates for Title 1 commodities would be released in November and payment methodologies for other commodities would be released at a later date.

Trump spoke about the upcoming program during a public appearance earlier this week.

“I’m also pleased to announce that the Department of Agriculture will be launching a new Harvest Fuel Relief program, providing our farmers with $8 billion in support,” Trump said.
