Oceans Calling Attendees React to Festival Cancellation

OCEAN CITY, Md. – As high tides and strong winds strike the Eastern Shore of Maryland, Ocean’s Calling has cancelled all three days of the sold out festival, forcing concert-goers to find other activities to entertain them while in Ocean City.

Concert-goers like Mayzie and Amy Clark, were on the boardwalk reacting to the news.

“Yeah, we’re really sad, but we understand you got to be safe.” Said Clark.  “You got to, like, protect the people that are out here. And even though it sucks, like it was the right call.”

Organizers announced Friday Morning that they would be cancelling all three days of the festival, following advice from the National Weather Service. As the boardwalk near the venue remained open on Friday, fans gathered to buy merch, and meet other fans in mourning.

Some fans like Paul Greco, flew in for the festival.

“Flying in from Texas to go out and see some of your favorite bands that you grew up with.” Said Greco.  “And you know, they get the disappointment that it’s cancelled. Hurts a little bit. ”

For some concert-goers like Steve Favorsao, this isn’t the first time they’ve purchased tickets for Oceans Calling, to later have the event cancelled. In 2022, the inaugural festival was cancelled due to weather caused by off shore Hurricane Ian.

“I was also coming to that one, this is Woodstock on the beach, and it ain’t happening.” Said Favorsao.

Festival organizers have ensured all tickets will be refunded in as little as thirty days, but it doesn’t change the fans’ disappointment. Yet, some fans like Nicky Miracle, were able to find a silver lining that will last a lifetime.

“The best part of the trip is that I got engaged and it was supposed to happen during the Dave Matthews concert, but we realized the weather was bad. ” Said Mircale. “He was afraid he was going to lose it. In the wind, on the beach.”

Country music festival “Country Calling” will be held at the same inlet location on October 2nd and 3rd.
