Meet Pocomoke City’s New Police Chief: Richard “Andy” McGee

POCOMOKE CITY, Md.- Richard “Andy” McGee has been appointed as the new police chief of Pocomoke City, bringing him back to serve the community, he calls home.

“It’s a role of a lifetime.” Said Chief McGee. “You know, it is a dream come true to be able to start your career in 1993. Things were much different. But there were also a lot of, similarities, and, you know, 33 year, 33 years later.”

Chief McGee has called Pocomoke home for his entire life. Mayor Todd Nock, believes that his love for the town, combined with his experience in the field, will make him a perfect fit for the role.

“With experience, with love and with his family.” Said Mayor Nock. “Chief McGee lives right here in Kokomo, and he is going to do a phenomenal job. We have a lot of faith in him to take the city police department to the next level.”

And this love that he holds for Pocomoke, and it’s people, makes serving the community, even more important for Chief McGee.

“Our town is a great town.” Said Chief McGee. “We’re not the friendliest town on the Eastern shore for no reason. We take care of our families. We take care of our own, and we hurt. When people hurt, the whole community hurts.”

Chief McGee is no stranger to the role of police chief, leading the Snow Hill department since 2019. He also spent 20 years at the Worcester County Sheriffs Office, and now looks to return to the department that he began his career at in 1993.
