Cambridge Police Chief Discusses Passing on Cat. Hinson
(CAMBRIDGE, Md) – The City of Cambridge is mourning the loss of Police Captain Ronald Hinson, and law enforcement is celebrating the life of a man who served this community for nearly 30 years.
Captain Ronald Hinson first joined the Cambridge Police Department in 1999. And police Chief Justin Todd tells us how Captain Hinson helped to protect his community.
He says, “He worked undercover in narcotics and drugs. He worked, in drugs, narcotics division throughout, his career. He worked in patrol. He worked in criminal investigations. And when you have someone that he was set to retire, I believe, in July.”
With a track record spanning nearly 30 years, it’s a major loss for the Cambridge Police Department.
Chief Todd tells WMDT, “And you know, when you have somebody that has that much knowledge and experience of the city, certainly tough to, to see, see it end so tragically like this.”
But to those who served alongside him in law enforcement, there’s one thing Captain Hinson put above everything else…
“He was a family man. He had five kids. And that’s where he centered his attention when he was not here. He centered it around his family. That’s where he wanted to be. That’s where he, spent most of all of his time. And, you know, he that that’s what he talked about,” says Chief Todd.
Captain Hinson’s death happened while he was on duty. A cause has not been released at this time.
