Pet Killed, Five Displaced in Sudlersville House Fire

SUDLERSVILLE, Md. – Five people were displaced Monday morning following a house fire in Sudlersville.

At 8:55 a.m. on Aug. 3, crews with the Goodwill Volunteer Fire Company and other area departments responded to the 1300 block of Sudlersville Road after a neighbor discovered and reported a fire. The family was not home at the time of the fire.

Twenty-five firefighters battled the blaze for 45 minutes before successfully extinguishing the fire. The total damage to the house and its contents is estimated to be valued at $100,000.

The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal responded to conduct and origin and cause investigation. The fire has been deemed accidental, and the result of an unspecified electrical failure involving a window air conditioning unit.

One family pet perished in the fire. No injuries were reported.
