MyChart with TidalHealth

DELMARVA – In this week’s edition of Health Beat, brought to you by TidalHealth, WMDT spoke with TidalHealth’s Digital Engagement Supervisor, Jenny Harsin, and Director of Patient Experience, Justin Giles.

MyChart is TidalHealth’s patient portal and provides a secure, online connection to one’s medical records. The portal, also accessible through a mobile app, allows patients to become active participants rather than passive recipients of their care. Giles told WMDT about other features helping patients on MyChart.

“When [patients] come into the emergency room, they have the ability to see their care team. They can see what they’re there for, what that diagnosis looks like, an explanation of it,” Giles said.  “They can also see requests that they can make of the team members at their bedside.”

Patients receiving inpatient services have access to even more services in MyChart, including access to a timeline of scheduled events for their care, an explanation of diagnoses, medical prescriptions, and even order food to their bedside — all from their phone.

“The patient also has the ability to see lab results, and they have the ability to have education assigned to them through videos that actually stay on the app for when they get home,” Giles added.  “They also have the ability to assign proxy access to a family member.”

But it’s important to note that MyChart plays a huge role in allowing providers to deliver the best level of care possible.

“It’s right there at your fingertips… For our health care team, it supports stronger communications and helping the patient stay engaged in their health care,” Harsin said.

TidalHealth patients are not required to have the MyChart app, but are encouraged to make an account so you have access to your records. You can sign up for MyChart here.
