Shorebirds late comeback falls short against Pelicans
SALISBURY, Md. – The Delmarva Shorebirds fell 8-6 to the Myrtle Beach Pelicans Wednesday night at Perdue Stadium in Salisbury.
The Pelicans jumped ahead early with seven runs off Shorebirds starter Stephen Still in the first three innings.
Delmarva mounted a late comeback that included a two-RBI double from centerfielder DJ Layton in the bottom of the ninth, but the seven-run deficit proved too large to overcome in Delmarva’s second loss of their home stand and fourth straight overall.
