Lightning Strike Sparks Structure Fire in Frankford

FRANKFORD, Del. — Firefighters from multiple departments responded to a structure fire in Frankford early Saturday after a building was reportedly struck by lightning.
According to fire officials, Stations 76 and 73 were dispatched to the area of Blueberry Lane at approximately 12:14 a.m. for a reported structure fire. The caller advised that the building had been hit by lightning.
At 12:20 a.m., Chief 76-15 arrived on scene and requested a full box alarm, bringing additional resources from Stations 88 and 79 to assist with firefighting operations.
Crews worked quickly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further. Firefighters brought the incident under control in a short amount of time before remaining on scene to conduct overhaul operations and extinguish any remaining hot spots.
No injuries were reported, and the extent of damage to the structure was not immediately available.
Fire officials thanked all responding personnel for their quick actions and teamwork during the incident.
