Volunteers work to bring affordable housing to Wicomico County

Salisbury, Md. – Two local organizations are partnering together to bring affordable housing assistance to Wicomico County.

Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County is working with Perdue Farms to support a “Women Build” event, where volunteers come together and work toward the admirable goal of housing single mothers struggling to find permanent housing. Today, volunteers are building two sheds to resell to fund two new homes. The team says this area has a strong need for this assistance and explained that this is only one part of a year-round mission to give back and deliver hope to their neighbors.

“All about giving back to the community. We have a platform throughout the year of building hope through our communities and giving back to our neighbors. So I think that this is just one little part of that bigger campaign that perdue is supporting” says Emma Elling a Marketing manager for Perdue Farms.

This event occurs yearly and team members say that they are proud to keep coming back and contributing to such a cause.

“We are excited to keep finding new ways to make sure that housing is attainable for everyone in our community because housing isn’t just a need it is a right.” says Christina Williams, the Director of Development for Habitat for Humanity of Wicomico County.
