Princess Anne PD Arrest Five after Stolen Vehicle Pursuit

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – The Princess Anne Police Department (PAPD) arrested five individuals in connection with a stolen vehicle pursuit on Saturday.

On May 2, a PAPD officer was in the area of Somerset Avenue and Mt. Vernon Road when he observed a silver 2005 Honda CR-V being operated erratically. Th vehicle was without registration plates and identified as a possibly stolen vehicle. The officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle before it fled westbound on Mt. Vernon Road. During the pursuit, the vehicle stopped near the 29400 block of Mt. Vernon Road, where three occupants exited the vehicle and fled into a nearby wooded area. The vehicle then fled again at a high rate of speed and out of the officer’s sight.

Additional PAPD officers and Maryland State Police (MSP) responded to the area and began searching for the fleeing subjects. Shortly after, the Honda was located as it subsequently crashed into a ditch, west of the officers’ location. Two additional occupants fled from the vehicle at that time.

With limited law enforcement resources in county, assistance from MSP Trooper 4, the Fruitland Police Department, and the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit was called to assist. Officers were ultimately able to locate and apprehend all five individuals, who were all charged accordingly.

An investigation revealed the Honda had been reported stolen from the Pohanka Dealership in Salisbury, what police say is an ongoing issue in the Salisbury area.
