Fake shooting called in at Easton Walmart to distract from drug investigation, police say

EASTON, Md. – Two individuals from Maryland’s Eastern Shore are facing charges after police say they misled officers in an investigation.

On April 4th, 2025, Easton Police pulled over a vehicle being driven by 38-year-old Elon A. Black of Easton on Route 50. Police say a K-9 officer was deployed to the scene and scanned the vehicle. The K-9 officer alerted to the presence of illicit drugs. Inside the vehicle, police found 60 capsules of suspected heroin and fentanyl, two knotted baggies, and five containers of suspected crack cocaine, and five tablets of suspected ecstasy.

While the K-9 officer was scanning the vehicle, police say Black made a call on his cell phone to 39-year-old Lacira C. Wilson of Worton. Investigators believe Black instructed Wilson to call 911 and make a false report of shots fired at Walmart in Easton to distract from the drug investigation. When officers arrived at the store, they found no evidence of a shooting.

Wilson was arrested on September 18th, and Black was arrested the next day. Each is facing multiple charges.
