Chestertown woman turns self in following fatal hit-and-run crash in Dover

DOVER, Del. – A woman accused in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Dover has turned herself in, police said.

On September 1st, 24-year-old Aaliyah Graves was arrested at the Dover Police Department. Graves is being held at Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $14,650 cash bail. She is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal crash, theft of a motor vehicle, tampering with physical evidence, causing the death of another person with a vehicle, driving without a license, and speeding.

On August 31st, around 2:00 a.m., Dover Police responded to the 200 block of North DuPont Highway. Officers met with the victim, 62-year-old Barbara Benson. She later died on the scene as a result of her injuries.

Police identified the driver as Graves, but say she had already left the scene when they arrived. Investigators later found the vehicle in Worton, Md.

Graves is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
