Trio in Dover facing charges after police pursuit in stolen vehicle
DOVER, Del. – A trio from Dover is facing charges after police say the group led them on a vehicle pursuit.
Around 6:42 a.m., Dover Police spotted a stolen vehicle in the area of North DuPont Highway and River Road. Officers tried to conduct a traffic stop, but say the vehicle took off. The pursuit ended when officers deployed stop sticks, and the vehicle crashed into a house on Wheatley’s Pond Road in Smyrna.
Police say the driver of the vehicle, identified as 19-year-old Brandon Carter of Dover, attempted to flee but was apprehended by officers. The passengers were identified as 18-year-old Nasir Peace of Dover and a 15-year-old male from Dover. They were also arrested.
While searching the vehicle, police say they found tools commonly used to steal cars. Carter is being held at Sussex Correctional Institution on $9,004 secured bail. Peace was released on $4,000 bond, and the 15-year-old was released on his own recognizance to a guardian.
