On August 22nd, around 11:49 p.m., Queen Anne’s County Sheriff’s deputies were conducting traffic enforcement on Route 301 in the area of Route 305. Police say they saw a vehicle speeding at a rate of 82 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone.

The vehicle was pulled over, and the driver was identified as 19-year-old Jaeyon Wright-May of Smyrna, Del. The passengers were identified as 19-year-old Brytant Hartwell and 19-year-old Jonathan Payne of Dover, Del., 18-year-old Jaevyon Wright-May of Smyrna, and 18-year-old Jamil Williams of Millville, Del.

According to police, the driver’s license was suspended. Due to “behaviors and movements made by occupants and observed by deputies,” police stated, a K9 team was dispatched to the scene. Police say the K9 alerted positively on the vehicle, causing investigators to search inside.

Police found a loaded handgun under the front passenger seat, an extended magazine in the glove box, and an unloaded shotgun in the trunk. Shotgun ammunition was found in the center console and the trunk, investigators say.
