BRIDGEVILLE, Del. – A Bridgeville man has been arrested after police say he threatened and assaulted a DelDOT worker earlier this month. 30-year-old John Gleysteen is facing felony charges, including possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony and aggravated menacing.

On August 5th, police responded to Handy Road near Craft Road in Bridgeville. Investigators would learn that Gleysteen’s vehicle allegedly collided with a DelDOT tractor that was mowing grass. Following the collision, police say Gleysteen left the scene, but later accused him of returning and removing a chainsaw from his truck.

At that point, police say Gleysteen placed the running chainsaw near the tire of the tractor and forcefully entered the cab. Police say the worker was assaulted and DelDOT property was damaged in the scuffle. The worker was not hurt.

Gleysteen is being held at Sussex Correctional Institution on $67,300 cash bond.
