Stolen guns found after crash in Harbeson
HARBESON, Del. – An Ellendale man is facing charges after police say his vehicle crashed into several parked cars while in possession of stolen firearms.
Around 8:35 a.m. on July 1st, Delaware State Police say a Ford F-750 was traveling southbound on Harbeson Road north of Lewes-Georgetown Highway. Investigators say the truck swerved into several parked vehicles on the 18000 block of Harbeson Road.
After the crash, the driver was seen removing a bag from the truck and hiding it behind a tree. When troopers arrived, they identified the driver as 33-year-old James Fisher. Police say they observed signs of impairment as they spoke with Fisher and conducted field sobriety tests. Fisher suffered minor injuries from the crash but refused transport to the hospital.
Troopers found the bag Fisher had hidden behind the tree. Inside the bag, troopers say there were several stolen firearms, ammunition, and ballistic vests. Fisher is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition. He was arrested and charged with several felonies, driving under the influence of drugs, and other traffic violations.
