WESTOVER, Md. – A Somerset County house fire was started by a lightning strike, say fire investigators.

The lightning struck around 4:50 p.m., with crews from the Marion Volunteer Fire Department responding to the 2,000 block of Kingston Road around on July 20th. The single-story wood-frame home had been struck in the rear bedroom. A crew of 20 firefighters was able to get the flames under control in 20 minutes.

The fire caused about $60,000 in damage. No one was hurt.

Another home in Dorchester County was also damaged by fire following a lightning strike, just days ago.
