Marijuana, loaded handguns confiscated in arrests linked to Laurel shooting

LAUREL, Del. – Two Laurel men are facing felony charges after police linked them to a shooting, then said they found drugs and guns in their vehicle.

On July 8th, around 9:40 p.m., Laurel Police responded to the Holly Brook Apartment Complex for shots fired. The vehicle was pulled over, and officers identified the occupants as 22-year-old Tyjah Jenkins and 25-year-old Richelson Charles. Police say the pair matched the description of the shooting suspects.

During the traffic stop, police say Jenkings showed signs of impairment. Officers conducted field sobriety tests and determined he was under the influence. Both Jenkins and Charles were arrested, and the vehicle was searched.

Inside, police say they found 1,125 grams of marijuana, two digital scales, packaging materials, and two loaded handguns. Both Jenkins and Charles are being held at Sussex Correctional Institution on $54,102 cash bail and $43,001 cash bail, respectively.
