Fatal crash under investigation in Dover
DOVER, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash in Dover on Thursday night.
Around 6:00 p.m. on July 3rd, police say a Honda Accord was stopped for the stop sign at the intersection of Birchfield Drive and Forrest Avenue. At the same time, a Hyundai Veloster was approaching the same intersection, and police say the Honda pulled out in front of it, causing the crash.
The driver of the Honda was identified as a 76-year-old Dover woman. She was taken to a nearby hospital where she later died. Her name is being withheld until her family is notified. The driver of the Hyundai was identified as a 17-year-old male from Marydel, Md. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Delaware State Police say the roadway was closed for about three and a half hours after the crash. The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Master Corporal W. Boot at (302) 698-8451.
