Arrest made in connection with June homicide in Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – An arrest has been made in connection with a June homicide in Cambridge.

On July 9th, police arrested 18-year-old Damarion Tyron Sampson of Cambridge. He was formally charged with homicide and is being held at Dorchester County Detention Center. Sampson is facing first- and second-degree murder charges, among other crimes.

Around 8:37 p.m. on June 25th, Cambridge Police responded to the area of the West Side Bypass and Route 343 for shots fired. When officers arrived, they found a 45-year-old man suffering gunshot wounds lying in the roadway. The victim was identified as Steven Lee Dennis of Cambridge.

On June 27th, Sampson was arrested on unrelated armed robbery charges. Detective would later search his home on Richardson Drive and find a handgun, as well as a vehicle matching the description of one spotted on the scene of the homicide.
