Fire destroys home in Cambridge

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – A house fire in Cambridge is under investigation.

Crews from the Rescue Fire Company responded to the home on Maple Avenue around 3 p.m. on Friday, finding much of the structure being eaten up by flames. Officials say the occupants were inside the home when the fire started, but were alerted by smoke alarms and were able to escape.

It took 45 firefighters about 45 minutes to quell the flames. Investigators are estimating the damage at $350,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The homeowners are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
