Fatal crash in Greenwood under investigation
GREENWOOD, Del. – Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened Friday in Greenwood.
Around 4:59 p.m., investigators say a Toyota Prius was approaching the intersection of Staytonville and Shawnee Roads. At the same time, a Nissan Sentra was crossing through the intersection. Police say the Toyota entered the path of the Nissan and was T-boned.
The driver of the Toyota, a 77-year-old East Fallowfield, Pa. man, was taken to a local hospital where he later died. His name is being withheld until family is notified.
The 37-year-old driver of the Nissan, a 26-year-old female passenger, and a 5-year-old male passenger, all from Bear, were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The roadway was closed for about three hours as investigators worked and cleared the scene. Anyone with further information about the crash is asked to contact police at 302-803-3267.
