Del. Office of Animal Welfare offers free dog licensing until July 15
DELAWARE – The Delaware Office of Animal Welfare has partnered with DocuPet to help lost pet owners. The organizations are offering a modernized and complimentary 24/7 dog licensing system through HomeSafe.
Owners who license their dogs through the platform will receive an assigned tag with a unique code that links to a dog’s secure online profile. Anyone who finds a lost pet may reference the code and create a Found Pet Report. Owners may also create Lost Pet Reports. DocuPet employs a dispatch team that is available 24/7.
All dogs six months of age must be legally licensed in the state of Delaware and require a valid rabies vaccination. The state is waiving late fees for expired licenses until July 15, 2025 to encourage compliance. Active licenses will remain valid until their expiration date.
“Licensing your dog helps reduce the number of animals in shelters, freeing up space and resources for pets in need. Licensing also helps ensure public safety and support critical animal services to our community,” director of the Office of Animal Welfare, Christina Motoyoshi, stated in a news release.
