Roadwork to resume on Rehoboth Avenue next month
REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. – Repaving on Rehoboth Avenue will resume next month, depending on weather conditions. City officials say the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) will resume its work likely sometime during the second week of April.
Paving was completed in the fall from the bandstand to 2nd Street. Work was halted in mid-December due to the early arrival of cold temperatures, which can impact the quality of paving, city officials say.
The project is now on track to be completed before the start of the busy summer season.
Work will include milling and paving between 2nd Street and the traffic circle, expected to take about a month to finish. Permanent striping will be added east of 2nd Street, with minimal traffic impacts. A-Del, the contractor, will complete roadwork between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Sunday evenings to Friday mornings.
Drivers can expect lane closures and parking restrictions in work zones. Flaggers will be onsite to help with traffic control. City officials say they will work with A-Del to ensure parking is available on one side of the street as work is completed.
The paving project is expected to be completed by May 16.
