Community Fdn. of Eastern Shore accepting education grant applications

SALISBURY, Md. – The Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore (CFES) is continuing a more than 20-year tradition of supporting special projects in local schools.

Supplying Support

Applications are currently open for the CFES education grant awards. CFES President Erica Joseph says the money will help support programs that enhance the quality and experience of local students’ education.

“We get to do that by getting some money in their hands, and in their schools’ hands, to be able to purchase things that would not be possible otherwise,” Joseph said.

Meeting Various Needs

Grant funding is open to applicants in k-12 public and private schools in Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester Counties.

In the past, CFES has funded a wide variety of projects. Joseph recalls some in which the youngest students learn about conflict resolution and relationship building. In others, Joseph says older students have been given access to hygiene products and other resources.

“We try to find ways to elevate the experience for students in our community, across all different ages and grades,” Joseph said.

How to Apply

CFES has $150,000 to give away this year. Awardees may receive up to $5,000, depending on the scope of the project and the needs it aims to tackle. Applicants can submit their forms by clicking here. The deadline is August 23rd, and awardees will be announced in mid-November.

“If you have any questions, feel free to contact our office, and we will walk through any of the technical support that may be needed,” Joseph said.
