Suspect sentenced to 35 years for 2023 murder of Felton man

KENT CO., Del. – A Maryland man has been sentenced to over three decades in prison for murdering a Felton man last year.

On April 26, 2023, the suspect, Steven Smith, approached Charles “Jaimie” Kupidlowski while driving his pickup truck outside of a home in the 200 block of Reeves Crossing Road. Smith reportedly shot Kupidlowski from his moving vehicle before fleeing the area. Kupidlowski was pronounced dead at the scene.

Last month, Smith pleaded guilty to second degree murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was immediately sentenced to 35 years in prison, following by multiple descending levels of probation.
