NTSB reveals details in fatal Easton plane crash
EASTON, Md. – An update to the fatal plane crash on July 16th.
The pilot died in the crash. According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the pilot told his manager before takeoff that each of the plane’s fuel tanks contained 12 gallons of gas and that he was going to add 20 gallons to each tank. Video obtained by investigators, however, shows the pilot adding that fuel to each auxiliary fuel tank instead of the main one.
Shortly after take off, the pilot reported significant engine problems before both engines lost power. The air traffic controller cleared the runway, but the pilot said he would not make it, and would try to land in a field.
Instead, the plane came down in the Tred Avon river. One part of the plane never recovered and investigators report no contamination to the plane’s fuel.
