EASTON, Md. – Easton has a new ordinance in place.

The noise ordinance prohibits businesses from playing amplified music of any kind outdoors between 10 P.M. and 6 A.M. That includes music coming out of doors or windows left open for an extended period of time. Town officials tell us this ordinance is in line with existing county regulations.

Easton Council President Frank Gunsallus says the change comes after the town received complaints. “It’s affecting public health when you know, people aren’t able to sleep due to loud noises. And, you know, it also affects quality of life when people are, you know, unable to hear their own TV inside of their house with their music going,” said Gunsallus.

The first offense comes with a $500.00 fine, which could increase to $1,000.00 depending on the frequency in a 12-month span.

To avoid being fined, you can get a permit from the Town of Easton.
