Foodie at the Fair: Creekside Coffee Roasting Company
HARRINGTON, Del. – The Delaware State Fair is known for its awesome eats, but sometimes you need a pick-me-up to keep you going in the heat.
Spreading the Love
Creekside Coffee Roasting Company is a newcomer to the Fair this year. And, they’re ready to spread the love.
“Our tag line is that we want to inspire other people to do what they want to do in life and be successful,” said owner Andrew Skrabak. “Every time we serve a coffee with a smile on our faces, we have an opportunity to do that in a really small way.”
Skrabak says it all starts with care about where your coffee comes from.
“We have a list of carefully curated, simple flavors that we add. By far, our top sellers are our flavored lattes,” Skrabak said. “Very good espresso is the building block to every drink that we sell.”
Masterful Macchiato
While a macchiato is not officially on Creekside’s menu, Skrabak is a master, and proves it with this beverage. Good thing, because it’s Foodie Photog Mike’s ultimate test of truly quality coffee.
“Right away, the texture is great. It’s a nice, light kind of fluffy hot drink,” Mike said with his first sip. “I think a lot of people have a perception of espresso that it’s going to be a very aggressive and have a strong flavor. This is just super mild, but earthy. It has all of that great character that coffee lovers love.”
Pastry Pick-Me-Up
Of course, you can’t go around the Fair on an empty stomach. Baked goodies make the perfect pairing with Creekside’s excellent espresso.
“That is also very much a good beverage to wash down a nice, sweet snack,” Mike said of a yummy cheese danish.
Foodie Friday Host Hannah Cechini was also pleased with the pastry.
“Picture a really good croissant, that has been sweetened up a little bit, and then you put a big plop of cheese right on top,” Hannah said. “And, that’s what you’ve got. It’s really delicious.”
Latte Full of Love
And, if you’re in search of a way to cool off and caffeinate, you can’t go wrong with an iced latte. Hannah decided to go for the dirty chai.
“That is super refreshing. Andrew talked a lot about how he tries really hard to source his beans from individual farmers who put a lot of love and care into their product,” Hannah said.
The chai was delicious, but the espresso makes it special.
“This coffee is really good quality,” Hannah said. “It’s one of those ones where the flavors just shine through, and they’re only complimented by the process which has turned this coffee into a latte.”
Creekside Coffee Roasting Company
Creekside Coffee Roasting Company is located at the food court at the Fair, but you can usually find them in Landenberg, Pennsylvania. You can contact them on Facebook or Instagram. If you go to check them out at the Fair, tell the team that you saw them on Foodie Friday.
