Fenix Youth Project needs funding support, closing Arts & Media Center
SALISBURY, Md. – Fenix Youth Project is making some changes that will impact their services.
The Salisbury organization helps unhoused youth get back on their feet. “We are currently in a place of just trying to deep dive into understanding what system-wise and policy-wise we need to relook into,” said Romona Harden, Board Administrator for Fenix Youth Project.
Fenix Youth Project in Salisbury making changes to its business operations. “If it’s anything of how we as a board are running everything to how we work with operations, to even understanding what hand needs to be put in the pot and taking out the pot and just trying to dissect that really,” said Harden.
The organization’s Arts and Media Center is closing. With a new board of directors, program leaders are confident that they will be able to better tend to the local youth. “To be able to listen to our youth voices in the community, understand what specific needs are we not meeting, how can we do better as an organization to ensure that we’re not only successful, but the youth in which we’re serving are successful in taking those next steps in their lives,” said Harden.
These changes come as Fenix Youth Project continues its effort of transparency. Due to a lack of revenue, the organization was unable to meet its financial obligations on time, so before they improve the organization’s trajectory funding is needed. “Funding is extremely, extremely important, not only for operations, but then the services that we provide used, if it’s anything as in ensuring that they have food which is already expensive for a lot of individuals, having means of transportation,” said Harden.
To secure those dollars, Fenix Youth Project will lean on the community to get it done. “We’re trying to create new partnerships, working with new organizations as new models in the community and school systems, and just trying to be able to understand what new steps we can take to ensuring the success of Fenix,” said Harden.
Founder of Fenix Youth Project – Amber Green – says the organization is hoping to reopen the media center in the winter. You can donate, using this link.
