Wico. Health Dept. hosting mental health first aid training

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – The Wicomico County Health Department is hosting mental health first aid training.

Health department officials say you could be the helping hand when someone is in crisis before professional help arrives. In the training, you’ll be able to learn the risk factors and warning signs for those suffering. An estimated one in five people struggle with their mental health according to the department.

But with your help, the community can be in a better place. “As citizens, community members, you know, being able to learn a little bit more about, de-stigmatize mental health and have the tools available to assist people, it’s just really important. And the more people that are able to do that, the better our community will be,” said Crissy Bowie-Simpson, with the Wicomico Health Department.

The two-day training will take place on July 22nd and 23rd at the United Way of the Lower Shore. Click here to register here.
