Promise Prep School celebrating one year with field day

FRUITLAND, Md. -The Promise Prep School in Fruitland is celebrating one year of academics.

The Christian school opened in September and serves Wicomico County and surrounding areas.  The curriculum at the school includes worship, writing, art, among other subjects. “We teach all the subject areas for academics like you would in public school, and I’m able to take my expertise from there and build on student strengths as well. But then to take it up a notch and literally teach these kids about the wonders of the Lord,” said Christy Gilbert, Lead Teacher.

Wednesday students and staff came together for a field day, filled with games, snacks, and dancing.

WMDT spoke to leaders at the school who said this year was filled with academic success adding that many students were able to strengthen their spirituality as well. “We had a great year the kids have really grown academically, spiritually with their walk with Jesus, its just been alot of fun,” said Chase Gilbert, School Administrator.

“They’ve learned a lot about Jesus. And just they’re just so on fire for the Lord. I’ve seen them since September. There’s been such a change and they’ve grown so much and they love to praise God,” said Gay Justice, Teacher’s Assistant. She says “It means everything. I think that a lot of parents, they don’t realize what goes on here. It is something you have to be a part of it to really understand. And even with our staff, one of the main things that I see is unity.” said Justice.

“Every single one of our students have had a real encounter with God. Like each one can say, I know God’s real and He’s done this for me,” said Christy Gilbert, Lead Teacher.
