MD Healthcare For All urging legislators to support healthcare provisions
MARYLAND – Leading up to the General Election, healthcare advocates are urging legislators to continue protecting healthcare provisions under President Joe Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act.
President of Maryland Healthcare For All, Vinny DeMarco says they are trying to inform the public about who is in support of the measure. Under the law, the cost of prescription drugs for those on medicare has been cut to no more than $2,000 a year. It also provides additional subsidies to those who need health care coverage. DeMarco says he’s still waiting to hear back from Maryland Representative Andy Harris and senatorial candidate Larry Hogan.
DeMarco says without their support it can be detrimental to Marylanders. “It would be terrible for Marylanders if the Inflation Reduction Act was repealed or if the subsidies which end in 2025 were not renewed. Thousands, and thousands of Marylanders have less ability to afford their drugs and less ability to afford healthcare ” said Vinny DeMarco.
Tthe organization is giving legislators until July 15th to let them know if they support the protections or not.
