Man arrested for disorderly conduct in Dewey Beach
DEWEY BEACH, Del. – One man is now behind bars following disorderly conduct in Dewey Beach.
On Sunday, June 2nd, 2024, at 1:32 A.M., the Dewey Beach Police Department responded to a reported altercation in the 16000 block of Coastal Highway. Upon arrival, officers engaged with several individuals present at the scene. During the investigation, it was reported by a witness that one of the involved parties may have been carrying a firearm. Officers identified and approached Bryce S. Byers, a 28-year-old resident of Dover. Byers showed physical signs of having been in a recent altercation, including swelling, bruising, and bleeding.
One of the responding officers noticed Byers displaying suspicious behavior, including a bladed stance and keeping his right hand concealed in his front hoodie pocket. Upon questioning about the presence of a firearm, Byers attempted to avoid police but was apprehended by an officer who discovered a loaded Glock 42 .380 handgun concealed in Byers’ possession. Bryce also displayed signs of intoxication. Police say he had a valid Delaware Concealed Deadly Weapons permit. During his time in custody, a blood search warrant was obtained, and a blood sample was collected for further analysis.
Bryce S. Byers was charged with Possession of a Firearm While Under the Influence and Disorderly Conduct by Fighting or Engaging in Violent, Tumultuous, or Threatening Behavior. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of an $850.00 secure bond.
