Sen. Carozza calls potential veto of RV bill “frustrating”

MARYLAND- State Senator Mary Beth Carozza is speaking out against a reported veto of a bill she helped to sponsor and pass through both chambers during the legislative session.

Her bill would have allowed the out-of-state RV dealers to advertize their products, but crucially not sell them, during trade shoes through the state, including the Ocean City RV show.

She tells us the industry, and its profits and revenue have been growing and the bill helped to build reciprocity between neighboring dealers, meaning to spur similar laws form those states to help the businesses grow regionally.

However, she says despite a lengthy process to address concerns via amendments to the bill, including the considerations of the RV Expo in Timonium, the bill has been added to the Veto list for Maryland Governor Wes Moore.

“The bill was amended, and the only reason the bill was amended was to address those concerns specifically putting in a study by the Maryland Department of Commerce and sunsetting the bill in a couple of years,” Senator Carozza said.

She tells WMDT that despite the setback the show in Ocean City will be moving forward, and she has received word from the administration that if vetoed, they would help to create guidlines for a similar bill to ultimately move forward during the next session.

Currently out of state dealers are barred from selling and adveritizing their products at such events.
