MAGNOLIA, Del. – Delaware State Police are currently investigating a murder suicide that ended three people’s lives.
According to police, around 6:20 p.m. yesterday, they were called to the 100 block of Cilento Drive after reports of gunfire.
When officers arrived, they found a 38-year-old woman with varies gunshot wounds in the front yard of the property. She later died from those wounds.
WMDT was on scene Tuesday, where neighbors described witnessing the man during the violent rampage.
A woman who says her husband called 911 tells WMDT she ran to the window after hearing gunshots as her children played outside.
She says she witnessed the suspect- whose name is being withheld- shooting the female victim as she ran from the garage, the witness says she then saw the suspect stand over the woman and fire multiple rounds as she laid on the ground before he re-entered the home.
Police say that’s when the suspect shot and killed a 43-year-old male victim believed to be the female victim’s boyfriend, before turning the weapon- on himself
According to Delaware State Police the Special Operations Response Team came to the home and inside they found two men dead with gunshot wounds.
They also found three children who were not injured and have now been transferred to the custody of the Division of Family Services.
Police say the suspect confessed to killing his wife and her new boyfriend to someone in his family via phone call before taking his life.
Another neighbor who witnessed the shooting tells WMDT he did not know the intentions of the man and stayed outside believing he may begin shooting witnesses, and was scared for his family’s safety.
He tells us first thought a child was discharging a weapon, or a nearby hunting range had a shot go stray before going outside and seeing the shooter.
