Newton Community Center opens STEM lab

SALISBURY, Md. – the Newton Community Center – officially opened their STEM Lab Wednesday.

They hosted the ribbon cutting at the facility. This is an opportunity to access more learning tools in addition to the services they already provide. It’s thanks to a grant from the Cal Ripken Senior Foundation in partnership with the City of Salisbury.

Rachel Manning with the city says the activities will provide different varieties of stem and give students exposure to different career paths. “Something different, maybe learn something outside of the classroom that they’re not getting in school and be able to see what’s out there. This gives them exposure to so many different career fields and just so many different opportunities that they can learn robotics, they can learn circuitry, they can learn 3D printing,” said Rachel Manning, the Community Relations Manager, of Housing and Community Development within the City of Salisbury.

The Newton Community Center will be open 11:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. during the summer. They are partnering with Wicomico County Public Schools for free lunch.
