WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – The 2024 presidential election is getting closer.

That means people are heading to the polls or instead mailing in their votes. The state of Maryland is seeing upwards of 600,000 voters who already requested their mail-in ballots. Locally the numbers are not that high, but elections officials say there are definitely more than usual.

Board of Elections Director Dionne Church spoke with me to break down the local numbers. “We currently have over 5500 mail-in ballot requests so far this year, which is higher than what it would normally be at this time. We haven’t exceeded the number from 22 yet, but we do anticipate that being higher,” said Dionne Church.

Church advises that if you are going to get your mail-in ballot that you do it by May 7th. You can do that online or in person at the Board of Elections.

After requesting your mail-in ballot, you can expect to receive it in about 7 to 10 days.
