Seaford mayor-elect announced
SEAFORD, Del. – In Seaford the Mayor-elect now announced, that is Matt MacCoy.
There were 2 candidates in the race, Jose Santos coming in with 200 votes and Matt MacCoy with 384 votes. MacCoy is a Seaford native and has served as a councilman for 5 years. 47 ABC spoke to the mayor-elect and he says he is excited to take on the role of mayor. He says the city is headed in the right direction and many projects are underway.
MacCoy says he’s ready to continue the work the city has already started without slowing down. “We need to handle that transition pretty quickly, we need to ensure our new council people get up to speed. We have to connect them with their various department heads and coordinate their liaison duties..there is no slow down, no stopping, we have to continue the work we’ve been doing here recently,” MacCoy said.
MacCoy emphasizes one current project underway, the groundbreaking for the new shopping center is happening on Thursday. The mayor-elect will serve a 2 year term.
With the two new council members selected, everyone will be sworn in on May 14th.
