Four teens arrested for multi-jurisdiction police chase in Sussex County
SUSSEX COUNTY, Del. – Delaware State Police arrested four teenagers after a high-speed chase through multiple areas in Sussex County Saturday night.
On April 13th, at 7:21 P.M. a silver Honda CRV with Delaware registration fled from a traffic stop by the Bethany Beach Police Department. Troopers spotted the same vehicle speeding northbound on Coastal Highway near Fred Hudson Road moments later. Troopers discontinued the chase due to safety concerns arising from the excessive speed. The vehicle was later discovered to be reported stolen by the Dover Police Department. The vehicle then traveled through Dewey Beach before turning eastbound onto Silver Lake Drive towards Rehoboth Beach.
Delaware State Police Aviation Unit monitored the vehicle from the sky until it crashed near Olive Avenue and the Boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach. All four suspects were seen running away on foot. Police apprehended the suspects a short time later near the Henlopen Hotel.
Further investigation revealed a firearm in the vehicle. No citizens were injured during this incident. All suspects were confirmed to be teenagers and taken to Troop 7, charged with multiple crimes.
