DSU secures partnership for aviation students, guaranteeing jobs upon graduation
DOVER, Del. – Piloting jobs are more accessible for Delaware State University students.
A new partnership with Endeavor Airlines will allow students to make their future opportunities greater. We spoke with the Director of Aviation Programs who says this will help reduce the shortage of pilots in the industry. Calling it a win-win for both the industry and the student, having secure talent and a job locked in. “We are building an ecosystem where we want to be the destination of students of all backgrounds on the Delmarva Peninsula and up and down pretty much east of the Mississippi,” said Captain Charlton.
Endeavor Airlines is a subsidiary of Delta Airlines. To take part in this opportunity, you do have to apply, and once selected you have to complete all the trainings and meet the requirements.
DSU says this ensures security for their students. “And having that sense of knowing where you’re destination and your pathway is at it motivates you, it makes you more in tune with making sure you’re presenting yourself in the best manner possible And it also benefits the institution, knowing that we have a student that’s on track, motivated to graduate,” said Captain William Charlton.
Captain Charlton says the university has 100% job placement. He adds this is a partnership bigger than just pilots, they’re looking for engineers, hotel and hospitality, and business marketing with different airline carriers. “And so we’re going to spend a great deal of time over the next three years bringing aviation into the mainstream DNA, not only of our institution but of the Delmarva Peninsula, so that individuals know whether you’re coming from the high school or if you’re going to be an adult learner, understand how much aviation impacts the daily and how where it might seem seemingly is not a factor,” said Captain Charlton.
