SBY Downtown Business Alliance in full swing

SALISBURY, Md. – A new business alliance is now in full swing in downtown Salisbury.

At the intersection of Main and Division streets, the ribbon cutting happened early Tuesday afternoon. The alliance is set out to create a collective voice, supporting revitalization, economic growth, and mutual support.

We spoke with the co-chairs of the alliance who call this a need, stressing how it’s important to work together for a common goal. “We’re hoping to make changes. We’d like to work with our local government and different things like rental assistance, rental programs, and we’re hoping to offer grant assistance to some of the local businesses. We’re looking to do fun things like events that we coordinate together,” said Nicole Blackwater.

“I have seen how much it works better to unite with other businesses and to collaborate. We saw a need to work together to make Salisbury a place where collaboration and working together works,” said Nicole Rogers.

The business alliance’s first event will be the Spring Street Market this Saturday from 12 pm to 5 pm. The Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce will support the alliance as they grow across the city.
