Monday Celebrating Maryland Day

MARYLAND – Monday marks Maryland day!

State Senator Mary Beth Carozza says this marks the state’s 390th anniversary. The state is known for seafood, mainly the blue crab and the state bird and pro sluggers, the Baltimore Orioles.

Maryland Day commemorates the day when 150 European settlers landed in modern-day Saint Mary’s County. “Maryland is the birthplace of religious freedom for the entire United States. So it’s a big day and we want to celebrate it. There’s so much to be proud of living, working in the state of Maryland. And I’m a proud Marylander and I really want to celebrate this Maryland day,” said Senator Mary Beth Carozza.

Senator Carozza says Maryland is also known for its great schools and unique state flag.
