Fatal trailer fire in Stockton
STOCKTON, MD – The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office investigated a fire in Stockton, Maryland which resulted in a fatality early Sunday morning.
According to te Fire Marshal’s Office around 6 am the Stockton and Girdletree Volunteer Fire Departments were called to a fire in the 800 block of Greenbackville Road.
Crews saw two camper trailers at the rear of the property involved in the fire and worked to put the fires out for both trailers.
During the fire suppression efforts, crews learned an adult occupant had been living in one of the trailers. Sadly, the adult occupants who resided in the trailer succumbed to their injuries as a result of the fire.
Deputies from the Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office along with the Worcester County Bureau of Investigation and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner responded to the scene to conduct a joint examination.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The identity of the victim is being withheld until proper identification can be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
It is unknown if working smoke alarms were present in the camper trailer at the time of the fire.
